Quite a common attitude among the more fanatic of Pianoteq devotees, I’m afraid, Arbee. Overall I am very impressed, which is kind of a bummer because it adds another potential expenditure to my wish list, which far exceeds my budget, especially since my search for a less expensive Albion-series substitute has been in vain.

And on the tactile level, Pianoteq is much more akin to playing on the real world counterpart. In terms of pure tone, I think I still like the Vintage D better, but - playing them alternatively side by side on MIDI ch1/ch2 - the harmonic resonances on Pianoteq are indeed better, most noticeably when playing f or ff in the extreme lower ranges where the Vintage D tends to "flatten out". The velocity curve calibration feature is great! I had a bit of trouble getting very softly hit keys (Yamaha CP33) to be recognized, but the calibrator worked as advertised and fixed this. In (again) fairness I didn't get deeply into sound design tweaks at all. First impression is that everything I tried is very good, except the YC5 had some of that tone I remember not being enchanted with.

I did download the current demo this morning and agree that the sounds seem vastly better, after just randomly trilling about with a few of the acoustic sets. I don't wish to be unfair, and tried to make it clear that my experience with a demo was from a while ago (v3 I believe, but maybe v2 I can't really remember),
